The School of Law Held a Conference on “Public–University–NGO Cooperation in the Fight Against Addiction”
A conference titled “Public–University–NGO Cooperation in the Fight Against Addiction” was held by the School of Law at our university, drawing attention to efforts aimed at combating addiction.

Organized by the School of Law and the Law Club of Ibn Haldun University, the conference took place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, and featured Governor–Chief Civil Inspector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zülkif Dağlı as the keynote speaker. In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dağlı emphasized the importance of systematic and effective methods in the fight against addiction, stating that he took pride in contributing his work conducted under the title “The Düzce Model” to the academic community. He noted that during his tenure as governor, youth centers were established in suitable areas within mosque premises, personnel awareness activities were carried out, and various interactive initiatives were successfully implemented to instill awareness of addiction prevention from early childhood onward.

Highlighting the importance of informing teachers, imams, and neighborhood headmen (muhtars), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dağlı underlined that the fight against addiction should not be confined solely to public order and security measures, but rather should adopt a comprehensive and holistic approach. He pointed out that the issue could be effectively addressed through the establishment of timelines, careful project planning, and the implementation of systematic efforts.

The conference attracted significant interest from participants and reinforced the message that more effective results in combating addiction can be achieved through cooperation among public institutions, universities, and non-governmental organizations.
