The first event of the “Contemporary Challenges in Family Law” series, organized by the Faculty of Law was held successfully.

The first event of the “Contemporary Challenges in Family Law” series, organized by Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Law, was held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The online conference, titled “Family Dispute Resolution Between Institutional Mediation and Religious Normativity: Egypt as a Model”, addressed family disputes and mediation processes within the Egyptian model.

The conference, featuring Dr. Ahmed Rabie from the Dubai Police Academy and Al-Azhar University as the speaker and moderated by Dr. Meryem Solmaz, examined the integration of the traditional structure in the Egyptian legal system with modern mediation mechanisms.

The discussion covered important topics such as the functioning of institutional mediation mechanisms in family law disputes, the influence of religious norms on modern legal systems and alternative dispute resolution methods, the relationship between traditional structures in the legal system and current mediation practices, and the main challenges and proposed solutions encountered in family law practice.

Following the presentation, the conference concluded with a Q&A session that gathered intense interest from participants and facilitated a mutual exchange of ideas.
