10th Anniversary Symposium on Mediation in Turkey was held in Ankara on November 14th within the scope of the joint project of Turkey, the European Union and the Council of Europe "Development of Alternative Dispute Resolution in Turkey".
Our Vice Rector Prof. Ali Yeşilırmak also made a speech at the symposium, which was attended by the President of the Court of Cassation Mehmet Akarca and Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç.
The Goal in Mediation Should Be to Increase Quality
Speaking at the third session of the symposium, Prof. Yeşilırmak explained the development of mediation in Turkey from a legal and practical perspective. Addressing in particular the inclusion of various disputes within the scope of mediation as a condition for litigation, Yeşilırmak underlined that the goal for the future is to increase the quality of mediation and emphasized that evaluative mediation should be possible in addition to facilitative mediation. Stating that regulations should be made regarding mediation centers, Yeşilırmak concluded his speech by mentioning that ethical rules should be implemented and the implementation should be strictly monitored.
