Our School of Law Students Successfully Represented Our University at the International Arbitration Competition in Vienna
Our School of Law students gained significant experience by representing our university at the 32nd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.

Held in Vienna, Austria, from April 11-17, 2025, the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition saw our students participate in simulated hearings within the framework of international law, competing against university teams from various countries. Our team represented our university in challenging hearings against Seinan Gakuin University (Japan), Alexandria University (Egypt), University of Colorado (USA), and Honorable Society of Middle Temple (UK).

The team included students from different classes of the School of Law: Cengiz Hanoğlu, Mehmet Burak Kalender, Meryem Bilmez, Ömer Faruk Demir, Özge Arslan, and Zeynep Oral. They were guided by our faculty members Assist. Prof. Ömer Faruk Kafalı, Assist. Prof. Mustafa Oğuz Tuna, and Çiğdem Kıyak, who had represented our university in previous years.

Since October 2024, the team prepared for the competition by writing two detailed memorandums for the Claimant and Respondent parties. In this process, they developed both their knowledge and practical skills in international contract law and arbitration.

The competition process was very instructive, intense and enjoyable for the team members. In addition to reinforcing their academic knowledge with practice, all members had the opportunity to interact with different legal cultures and meet lawyers from all over the world.

After the competition, our students visited Vienna and Prague for cultural and academic purposes.

We would like to thank Oybirliği Association for supporting our team.
