Prof. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, Head of the Department of Private Law, and Assist. Prof. Gülnihal Ahter Yakacak, faculty members of the School of Law at İbn Haldun University, participated in the first provincial meeting of the “Improving Workers’ Skills Adaptation in the Green and Digital Transition Process Project,” organized by the General Directorate of Labor, held in Bartın. The opening speeches were delivered by Bartın Governor Dr. Nurtaç Kayan and Deputy Director General of Labor Suat Dede. The meeting was attended by representatives of social partners, academics, local authorities, and private sector stakeholders.

In the first session, moderated by Kerem Uygur Aydın, Prof. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, Head of the Department of Private Law at the School of Law, Ibn Haldun University, delivered a presentation titled “The Reshaping of Labor Law in the Twin Transition Process.” In the same session, Assist. Prof. Gülnihal Ahter Yakacak, Faculty Member at Ibn Haldun University School of Law, presented on “The Concept of Decent Work,” while Assist. Prof. İstemi Ceysu Dinç Ütükler delivered a presentation on “Just Transition Mechanisms in Adapting to the Green and Digital Economy.”

The views expressed throughout the meeting highlighted that the new opportunities brought by the green and digital transition in the labor market, as well as the accompanying challenges, need to be addressed through collective insight. In this context, the shared vision shaped with contributions from public institutions, social partners, academic circles, and private sector representatives lays the groundwork for concrete steps to improve workers’ skills adaptation.

We congratulate our academics and wish them continued success.
