Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, Member of Law Faculty and Head of the Department of Private Law, highlighted that artificial intelligence could lead to discrimination in recruitment processes and emphasized the need for legal regulations to prevent this.

In an interview with Anadolu Agency (AA), Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu drew attention to the potential for artificial intelligence and algorithms to cause discrimination in hiring processes. She noted that algorithms used in recruitment can disadvantage certain groups due to biases in data, which she emphasized violates the principle of equality. She also stressed the importance of carefully examining the impacts of AI on human rights and labor law. Additionally, she reminded that while digitalization brings opportunities, it also entails risks, and therefore, steps should be taken to introduce necessary legal regulations and measures to prevent algorithmic discrimination.
