Panel on Women's Religious Freedom in the Workplace Held at Our University with the Participation of Sümeyye Erdoğan Bayraktar
The program titled “Right to Believe and the Right to Work: Women's Religious Freedom in the Workplace”, which addressed the relationship between women’s freedom of belief and their right to work, was held at our University with broad participation.

Organized jointly by the School of Law and the Center for Civil Society Studies (CIVIL) at our University, in cooperation with TÜRGEV, KADEM, TADUK, and the Law Club, the panel took place on Wednesday, April 16, at the Media and Event Center – Event Hall, with the participation of expert academics from the fields of law and sociology.

The keynote speech of the program was delivered by Sümeyye Erdoğan Bayraktar, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the KADEM Foundation. Our President, Prof. Atilla Arkan; Dean of the School of Law, Prof. Şükrü Yıldız; and Director of the Center for Civil Society Studies, Dr. Afra Uysal, also delivered opening remarks at the event. The program addressed global developments and current challenges regarding the protection of women’s religious freedoms in the workplace.

During the panel session, moderated by Prof.  Alev Erkilet from the Department of Sociology at Ibn Haldun University, presentations were made by Res. Assist. Nurhayat Bekir from the School of Law at Ibn Haldun University; Dr. Amila Svraka-Imamović from the School of Law at the University of Sarajevo; Dr. Tesnim Khrij from the Department of Sociology at Ibn Haldun University; and Dr. Mustafa Çatık from the School of Law at Istanbul Medipol University. The panelists shared insights based on case studies from different countries on women's freedom of belief in professional life. Topics such as the interpretations of the European Court of Human Rights, freedom of religion and conscience within the framework of the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, recent developments in Tunisia, and legal struggles within Turkey’s secular system were discussed.

The event concluded following a Q&A session with the participants.
