The three-day awareness seminar organised by the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) was held at the Antalya Training and Social Facility of the Foundation for Strengthening the Justice Organisation between 13-15 December 2024 with the participation of three representatives from universities. In the programme attended by Hacer Sude Ağar, Hayrunnisa Kul and Mahmut Furkan Özkan, students of our faculty, seminars were given on legal regulations, general principles and rights in the field of personal data protection.
During the event, participants were provided with a broad range of information, from the definition of personal data to the legal basis for the data processing process. Topics such as Data Protection and Legal Basis and Individuals' Rights and Application Methods were among the prominent subjects.
The seminar also addressed the critical role played by KVKK as an institution with administrative and financial autonomy in protecting individuals' personal data. They were informed about the legal measures the board could take in participants cases such as the unlawful recording, transfer, or failure to delete personal data.
The final day of the event was dedicated to technological threats. Under topics such as Phishing Attacks and Device Security, the importance of individual precautions in protecting personal data was emphasized.
Our Students Returned with an Award
At the end of the seminar, it was stated that participants had significantly enhanced their knowledge of KVKK's legal framework and individual rights. In a scenario competition involving student teams from 30 universities, the team including our students secured third place.
