Ibn Haldun University School of Law and Law Club organized a conference which will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Ali Yeşilırmak with Nobel Laureate Mrs. Tawakkol Karman on Friday, June 25, 2021.

Mrs. Tawakkol Karman born in 1979, graduated from the University of Science and Technology in Sana’a with a degree in commerce in 1999 and later earned a master’s degree in political science. Mrs. Karman and several of her colleagues founded Women Journalists Without Chains in 2005 to advocate for women’s rights, civil rights, and freedom of expression. She has been greatly involved in Arab Spring demonstrations. She has promoted the struggle for democracy and human rights in Yemen at the international level including at the United Nations. She received the Nobel peace prize in 2011 with the motivation of their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work. Mrs. Karman is the first Arab woman and the second Muslim woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize and at the time was the youngest recipient at the age of 32. She has received various awards such as time magazine’s most rebellious women in history in 2011, foreign policy magazine’s top 100 global thinkers for three years, CNN’s list of most powerful women in the Arab world, she has granted honorary doctorates from various universities in international law, human rights, journalism and women’s rights
