Call for Papers
A symposium titled “Future of Mediation” will be organized by Ibn Haldun University – Alternative Dispute Resolution Research Center on 14th November 2020.

At the symposium, papers related to all areas of mediation law can be presented. In particular, the symposium aims to evaluate current issues in the field. Applications can also be made on interdisciplinary matters. Paper applications will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee consisting of experts in the field, by comparing the importance of the chosen topic with other applications made with similar titles and paying attention to whether it is up-to-date.
Presentation can be either in Turkish or English.
Submission of Abstracts and Participation in the Symposium
Abstracts for the application should be prepared between 500-1000 words with 5 keywords (in Turkish and English) and a bibliography. Along with the abstract, the author’s CV (with the institution and contact information he worked for) should be sent to the address of firstname.lastname@example.org until 15th October 2020. Abstracts of the papers will be subjected to scientific preliminary examination by blind review method and accepted papers will be presented at the symposium. Accepted authors will be informed via e-mail on 4th November 2020 and a letter will be sent regarding the acceptance of the notification.
Each paper presentation time should be no more than 20 minutes. In the papers written by more than one author, the number and the identity of the author(s) who will make the presentation should be stated. The presentations will be recorded by video recording method and can be published in the channels approved by the Organizing Board if deemed necessary. The submitted papers must have not been presented or published anywhere before and should be authentic studies of participants.
After the selection of the accepted papers, the symposium program will be notified to the participants on 4th November 2020 via e-mail and will be announced.
Subjects that will be prioritized at the symposium are as follows:
– Which disputes should be resolved through mediation?
– Where should the mediation take place? (Mediation centers, accreditation of centers)
– Problems and solutions for mediation principles
– Rights and obligations of the mediator; related problems and solutions
– Application to the mediator, discretionary and compulsory mediation and objection to mediation
– Mediation agreement and mediator agreement (definition, proof)
– Selection of the mediator and mediation process- Joint use of facilitator and evaluative mediation
– Expertise in mediation (employment, commercial, consumer etc.)
– Documents prepared in mediation and the procedures and principles to be adhered
– Preserving and execution of the agreement document and annulment case
– The application to mediation as cause of action
– Mediation record
– Mediation training
– Supervision and discipline in mediation
– Singapore Agreement
All the abstracts of the papers presented at the symposium will be published in an e-book with ISBN. It is assumed that the authors submitting the abstracts give their approval for this publication in case of acceptance of the abstracts. No copyright fee will be paid to the authors for the booklet and full-text publication.
Papers accepted to the symposium will be published in an edited book or journal upon the referee review, provided that they are sent in full text to the e-mail address mentioned above until 15th December 2020.

The title, abstract, and keywords should be specified in the abstract of the paper, both in English and Turkish.
Full text papers should include Turkish and English abstract sections consisting of 500-1000 words. Those who will present in English shall firstly, write an abstract in English, then in Turkish.
Both under the Turkish and English abstract sections, at least 5 and 10 keywords should be written.
The publication language of the full-text book is Turkish and English. Full-text papers of the authors who submit papers in English will be published in English.
5. Writing Rules
- Times New Roman” font,
- Main text font size 12,
- Footnote font size 10,
- 5 line spacing,
- Dot signs should not be used in abbreviations,
- Table of Contents and Abbreviations should not be included.
6. Reference Method
“The Chicago Manual of Style (17th Edition, Notes and Bibliography)” citation method shall be adopted as the citation method and bibliography.
