Prof. Dr. Yavuz Atar, the founding dean and faculty member of the Law School of Ibn Haldun University, was appointed as the representative of Turkey to the European Commission for Democracy Through Law, which is known as Venice Commission. Venice Commission was established as a consulting body of the Council of Europe at 1990 by an agreement which was agreed by 18 European states. Turkey is a member of the Commission from the date of its establishment. At the moment, there are 61 member states including 47 states of the Council of Europe in the Commission. The Commission’s main fields of activity are democratic institutions, fundamental rights and freedoms, elections and political parties. We wish Prof. Atar every success in his new position.
